I was one of those kids who had to touch everything, feel every texture and surface. I’m always searching for movement, depth and texture that create the world around me, from a head of cabbage at the grocery store to the moss on the north side of a fallen tree. I find inspiration in nature’s colors, textures and contrasting drama between sharp edges and curves. I create clay and paint with acrylic as well.
My pottery showcases texture and color in contrast that is functional but sometimes unconventional. I enjoy pushing the natural limits with clay in building some of my pieces. When painting, I am fascinated by the layers needed to achieve a visual texture and depth.
I received a bachelor’s degree in fine art from the Art Institute of Boston. Awarded a scholarship to attend a summer program at MassArt in Boston, as well as multiple Scholastic Awards and scholarships for my sculpture work. Additionally, I have received Artisan Festival Awards and Scantic River Artisan Juried show awards.
